Savoy UMC is very active in missions at a local, national and even global level. We believe strongly that God asks us to not only help those in need but to develop relationships with others so that they may learn about God's love for them. As Rev. Jim often says, "When God's love is in us, good things flow out of us". We hope you will consider joining us on a mission project. There are many ways for people of all ages and abilities to get involved. Adopt-a-Project We are currently working on a project to repair a home for a family in need. This is one of several projects that Savoy UMC participates in throughout the year. The goal of these projects is not only to repair the home but also to develop a relationship with the people we are helping. We want to let them know that God loves them and that we serve them "Free in Jesus' name" in order to show them this love first hand. We meet on Saturday mornings at empty tomb (4th street in Champaign, north of University Ave.) at 9:00 am and proceed from there. MMDC (Flood Bucket) Supplies Needed Items in bold are in particular short supply. * (Suggested brands are not mandatory) Flood Buckets - Suggested Transportation Donation $5.00 5 gal. bucket with resealable lid (New or clean recycled) Bleach (1/2 gal or max. 50 oz Concentrate) Liquid Laundry Detergent - max. 50oz Liquid Lysol Cleaner Concentrate - 12 oz Antibacterial Dish Soap - approx 28 oz Air Freshner - 9 oz Insect Repellent (not killer) - 6 oz pmp spray (*OFF, Cutter) 5 - 6 Scouring Pads (not steel wool), 2 x 3 pack 1 Scrub Brush (6" - 8") 18 Cleaning Towels (*Handi/Easy Wipe, reusable) Sponges - 6-7 pack, assorted sizes, 2 x 3 pack 5 Clothes Pins (spring type) Clothesline (artic cotton) 3/16" diameter X 100 ft. Dust Mask - 4-5 pack (disposable) Latex Gloves - package of 2 pair (Premier) Work Gloves - (Wells Lamont, Canvas Dot) 1 pair Trash Bags - (Hefty / Glad tie, approx. 30 gal or larger) 24 - 28 bag roll Sizes are particularly important as all items must fit in the bucket. But you don't even have to actually pack the bucket - we'll take care of that. Just bring in the supplies in bags or boxes. However, if completing a single bucket, please place all items in bucket, please mak "COMPLETE" . Tape a list of contents on the outside and seal the bucket. Buckets maust have secure lids.
