Gail grew up in Chicago for 30 years and then moved to a suburb of Chicago and lived there for 24 years. She has three adult daughters whom she cherishes! Gail was involved in a church in Roselle as a volunteer in children's programs for 20 years and then went to school to get her Lay Ministry degree. It was at that same church that she was hired as a full time Director of Child and Family ministry where she worked for 10 years. It was not a job to her - it was an honor to serve God and His people.
She and her husband, Mark, moved to Danville 3 years ago as a stopping point on their journey, but Danville is now their permanent home. They have three dogs ( a german shepherd, a beagle and a cockapoo). Life is interesting with their three 4 legged kids. Gail and Mark love camping and go out every chance they can. They also enjoy motorcycles and Danville Dan games and working on their yard and house. Gail says she feels so blessed to be here at Savoy. She has met so many kind, generous, and helpful people who make her honored to be part of the team here. Gail states, "God has been so good and He continues to be good and guide me in His ministry here".

Christina Donovan has been teaching Sunday School and working with little ones 5 years and younger for almost 15 years now. She first started as a high school student when her church did not have programs designated toward teenagers. After working for a year as an assistant, she was granted her own classroom and promoted to head teacher. She hasn't stopped since. Watching children grow and learn is so inspiring to her and being able to teach young ones about God and His LOVE is one of the best things she can imagine doing with her life.
As a mother of two young girls, she is always looking for new ways to keep kids attention and make sure all their needs are met. She uses techniques with crafts, music, and books to engage and encourage her students. Fostering a love of learning, especially about Jesus, is of utmost importance to Christina. Come by and meet her first service sometime! She loves seeing new faces as well as regular friends!
My name is Hannah Fridgen and I am a 16 year old Junior at Unity High School. I enjoy hanging out with my friends and family and attending church. At school I am the class Vice-President and play basketball. I am also a member of the math team, pep club, and dream team. I particularly enjoy being a part of the “dream team” because it is a club where we have buddies with special needs. We do activities with them at our meeting and try to get to know them better. I attend church at Savoy UMC and serve on our church leadership council as the Youth Representative. I work in the nursey on Sunday mornings and during events where childcare is needed. I always look forward to working with the kids at Savoy UMC. I am particularly proud of my most recent accomplishment of completing the basic lay servent ministries.
Hi! My name is Leeann Smith. I have been going to SUMC for over a year. I am part of the childrens ministry team and teach in preschool on second sundays of the month. When I am not teaching at SUMC, I am a preschool teacher at Little Hearts and Hands in Urbana and have been teaching there since 2015. I enjoy seeing children grow and love teaching them about God. "Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it", Proverbs 22:6.
I was born in Urbana - grew up in small towns surrounding Champaign and currently reside in Champaign. I have a wonderful husband, Sam and a beautiful 4 year old daughter Anna. When I am not busy teaching or being a mommy, I enjoy spending time in my garden and reading.
I am so excited to begin a new adventure in the nursery and can't wait to love and care for your child (ren) on Sunday mornings
