In United Methodist Churches around the world, a special offering is collected on World Communion Sunday, the first Sunday in October, to fund scholarships for seminarians. One half of the proceeds is for World Communion Sunday Scholars administered by the General Board of Global Ministries. The remaining one half is for the Ethnic Scholarship Program and the Ethnic In-Service Training Program, which are administered by the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry. If you would like to contribute to this special offering on October 4, please make your check out to SUMC with “World Communion Sunday” indicated on the memo line.

Join us in blessing children around the world with the love of Jesus Christ by packing shoebox gifts. Remember to make each shoebox gift fun, full, and personalized. Anyone can participate by filling a shoebox full of fun toys, school supplies, personal care items, and a “wow” item, such as a doll or soccer ball. The “wow” item makes a joyful first impression when the child opens the shoebox. A $10 donation per shoebox helps cover shoebox collection, shipping, processing, training local volunteers, and Gospel materials. Let’s make our goal of 35 boxes for 2026.If you would like to donate items towards a box, please leave them in the donation box in the entryway. Packing materials can be found at the Operation Christmas Child table at the back of the worship area. Our final day for box collection will be Sunday, Nov. 15.
